The Bangldesh dairy sector has been transforming from family-oriented farming system to more market-oriented dairy production system. In order to reach the self-sufficiency in milk production by 2021, it is necessary to boost the productivity and increasing skill and managment of the dairy farm. In addition, it is also necessary to provide conducive policy framework that will levarage the dairy farmers, processors, dairy input suppliers and all other stakeholders both in upstream and downstream. The reliable dairy related data is the key limitation for making strategy toward achiveing this self-sufficiency. Integrating knowledge from the different stakeholders and pooling them into one single source would be a tremenodus step forward for generating database for the country. This database would provide an excellent knowledge pool for creating a decision tool for the farmers, dairy processors, policy makers and other stakeholders of the dairy chain. Until now there is no organization who invest resources to do this. Realizing this, we are in the process to establish dairy network that could easily handle this complex process of data and dairy knowledge generation.
In response to this, an workshop on establishment of Integrated Dairy Research Network (IDRN) will held on 8th December, 2018 at Animal Husbandry Conference room, BAU from 9.30 to 14.00. The main goal of this workshop is to provide a framework for establishing the network and its operation procedure.
